Coffee With the Assemblies is back on Tuesday, March 22

Please join us on Tuesday, March 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for our second Coffee With the Assemblies!

During this session, we will briefly share the three priorities that Staff Assembly Council identified from the ANR@Work and Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) surveys. Then we will give participants a chance to break into discussion groups to discuss the priorities, including developing solutions-oriented actions to help Staff Assembly Council address the priorities.

AllANR staff and academics are welcome to join us. We hope to see you on Zoom. See the link below.

Coffee with the Assemblies are monthly drop-in “chats” with leadership from Staff Assembly Council (SAC) and Academic Assembly Council (AAC).

2017 UC Staff Engagement Survey

Dear Colleagues:

UC is running the biennial Staff Engagement Survey to learn more about nonrepresented (policy-covered) staff impressions about working at the university.

During the week of May 15, a representative sample of ANR staff members will receive an email from Willis Towers Watson, a firm conducting the survey on UC's behalf, with an invitation to take the survey.

The survey was developed by the Council of University of California Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) in collaboration with Systemwide Human Resources' Employee Relations department and Willis Towers Watson.

This is not spam so please do not delete the email invitation.

The Staff Engagement Survey aims to help UC better understand the views, experiences and needs of policy-covered staff on topics related to working at all UC ANR, including career development, performance management and workplace collaboration.

This is the third UC-wide staff engagement survey; the last survey was in 2015. By comparing the results of the past surveys, Human Resources will get insight into areas where progress has been made and areas that need further effort and focus.

We encourage you to complete the survey, if you should receive it. It is an opportunity to get direct feedback from individual staff that will help shape how we will all work at UC ANR.

The survey is completely confidential. Individual responses to the survey and personally identifying information will not be shared with UC.

Note that union-represented employees will not participate in the survey because UC receives their feedback through their union representatives during the collective bargaining process.

Should you have questions about the survey, please contact EmployeeSurveySupport@willistowerswatson.com.

May 20 town hall with VP Humiston to introduce Staff Assembly and Principles of Community

Plan to join the May 20 town hall to learn about the new Staff Assembly and Principles of Community! All ANR staff and academics are encouraged to participate.

1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Friday, May 20, 2016

VP Glenda Humiston will

  • share her vision for Staff Assembly and take questions about the new organization. The Staff Assembly will give staff a collective voice to senior leadership, offer opinions and recommendations on policies, processes and programs, foster an understanding of ANR's mission and offer career training and professional development.
  • discuss the new Principles of Community, which was also formed as a result of the Work Environmental Assessment to document the values that will create a more welcoming and inclusive work environment. The Principles of Community will be a tool for education and training.

As a follow up to the ANR Work Environment Assessment, VP Humiston formed a committee of ANR staff to draft the Principles of Community, structure and bylaws for the Staff Assembly. All of the UC campuses have a Staff Assembly, as does UCOP and Lawrence Livermore Labs. All ANR staff — no matter the appointment type, including county-paid staff — are part of the new Staff Assembly.

How you can participate:

If you will be at 2801 Second Street on May 20, please join the town hall in the San Joaquin Valley and Sacramento Valley rooms.

If you plan to join the call remotely, we encourage you to gather with others to use one computer and/or speaker phone because the number of connections is limited.

You should be able to hear and see the presentations. If you haven't used Adobe Connect before using the computer, you may want to log in ahead of time in case it requires you to download a plug-in. Access Adobe Connect through your ANR Portal (in the right column).

  • ReadyTalk: If you do not have access to a computer with speakers or you just want to listen in, you can call in to ReadyTalk directly using a telephone:

Call-in: 866-740-1260
Access Code: 6063660

  • Q&A: Questions will be handled by a moderator using an Adobe Connect chat window. We will not be able to take questions over the phone.

For technical help, contact the ANR IT Service Desk Team at help@ucanr.edu or (530) 750-1212.

Let your voice be heard

Dear Colleagues,

Two years ago you were asked to participate in a statewide survey regarding your work environment. Survey results have been tabulated and reviewed. While the Work Environment Assessment Committee was discussing survey results, we realized that ANR has no formal or consistent mechanism to get feedback from staff. an ANR Staff Assembly would provide that mechanism.

A staff assembly would promote effective communication between staff employees and the ANR administration. An ANR Staff Assembly would provide forums where staff at all levels can discuss UC ANR and University issues of mutual concern, and offer opinions and recommendations to the administration on policies, processes and programs.

For more information, click on the links below. Let us know if you are interested in being involved in the ANR Staff Assembly by filling out a 1-minute survey by January 26. If you have questions, please contact Jodi Azulai at jlazulai@ucanr.edu

What is a staff assembly?

Who has staff assemblies in UC?

How would an ANR staff assembly benefit ANR staff?

What are the main functions of an ANR Staff Assembly?

Who would establish the ANR Staff Assembly?

How would staff volunteers establish the ANR Staff Assembly?

Who can be a member of the ANR Staff Assembly?

What personal benefits would I gain by being a member of the ANR staff assembly?

How do I get involved?

Sincerely,

Your Work Environment Assessment Committee
